Hi Aik Tern,

I am hoping you can help me as I am having problem with settting-up the wireless router (Linksys WRT54G2) and D-Link (DSL 520B) to work with my streamyx connection.

I have done the following:

Change the IP for the modem to be different from the router and set the modulation in the modem to T1.413....

The connection to internet was okay for an hour yesterday. But today I am not able to connect/enable the Internet Connection.

Please advise

In my opinion, the Adsl techonology has a great development overtime. Thanks for this usefull post, i've just make it a digg.
Kind regards
Jake Bunce, the manager of Viettel ISP.

I totally agree with you with the TMNET support staffs and the services they so called provide and also monopolised.

If Telekom MALAYSIA! would follow your advise and the way you think to approach a problem.

What you have posted here will definately replace the entire technical support departmen and cut down the call in support by more than 60%. And they will offer you a job as their Technical and Services Director.

Anyhow. Sad to say, Chinese don't have much chance in working in Telekom Malaysia.

Only Malaysian's non-bumi will know what this means.

I just want to post my thanks to you.
This is the second time a long standing technical problem has been solved thru this site.

I was having problems configuring my Billion ADSL modem (telekoms supplied) for my Fixed IP Streamyx.

All the necessary info found here could not be found elsewhere. Keep up the good work!!!!

Also thanks to Aik Tern who so quickly gave a better solution: "Fixed IP Streamyx can now use PPPoE instead of PPPoA".

My modem does not hang overnight anymore and response seems faster (all in the mind?)

Dear All

Thank you so much for helping. Apparently, the modem was the faulty issue during the moving of the school. Actually, I have testing the NIC, the straight-thru cable, the RJ45, the streamyx connection. I have wasted so much time looking for error while the modem is the culprit.

Let's try the most basis setting first and make sure things are working fine, using just PC direct to the Modem, without Router.

You didn't mention what package you are subscribing to, fixed IP or dynamic IP?

Please provide me the D-Link router model, and tell me more details about your LAN structure.

Some step had to do for the purpose of diagnose your problem:-

1. Make sure your streamyx line can function properly.
2. Make sure your modem can function properly.
3. Checking your RJ45 cable, make sure the signal can transfer through the cable properly.
4. Checking your switching hub.
5. Checking NIC Card on each computer.

If you done these above steps still can't get what's happening, please contact the professional technical person assist you.

I am trying to connect a school of 7 pcs together using D-Link router and zte zxdsl831 modem (as supplied by Telekom). The problem is that the LAN connection is shown but then the modem light only shows power on, with no other lights. I even try connecting just one pc to the modem and worse, totally no LAN connection now and also try to enter the browser through 192.168.1.1 and said page not found.

The modem was working fine cus the school had moved, so we need to set up computer room for the students.

I am at my totally baffled and tearing out my hair. Don't know what is wrong. Could you help?
